The 3rd Zambia International Mining and Energy Conference (ZIMEC), held on 19 and 20 June at the New Government Complex in Lusaka, consisted of two parallel conference streams, focusing on mining and energy issues, and an associated trade exhibition. ZIMEC is now the 4th largest mining conference in the world. The theme of the event was “Developing Zambia’s Mining and Energy Sectors Towards 2020”. The event attracted over 400 delegates from 28 countries.

Sparsely populated, Zambia is located in the southeast of the African continent with huge natural reserves such as copper, cobalt and other non-ferrous metals. It has fertile land, abundant water resource and potential tourism resource.
